The Vermont Farmers Market is making its much-anticipated return to Farmers Hall at the Vermont Farmers Food Center in Rutland. Starting November 2nd, the Winter Farmers Market will be open every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM through April, offering a wide variety of local products and fresh produce.
This return is particularly significant as it follows an extensive environmental cleanup at Farmers Hall. In November 2021, elevated levels of trichloroethylene (TCE) were detected in the building, leading to a temporary relocation of market activities. Since then, the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has overseen a series of corrective actions, including installing a vapor barrier and sealing potential pathways for contamination.
Thanks to these efforts, recent indoor air tests have shown that TCE levels are now well within safe limits for non-residential use. Additional measures, such as the installation of a sub-slab depressurization system, are underway to ensure ongoing safety.
Mark your calendars for November 2nd, and join us every Saturday for the Winter Farmers Market at Farmers Hall!
