It’s August and that means local sweet corn has made its first appearance at the market! These photos were taken at last Saturday’ market and already this summer favorite was literally spilling out of the backs of trucks and covering tabletops, with customers carrying it away by the dozen for their backyard and indoor gatherings.
And this is only the beginning of the abundance to come. Agriculture is an essential part of the Vermont way of life and corn is one of Vermont’s top agricultural products. Delicious, nutritious, easy to prepare, a colorful addition to any summer plate, fun to eat, what more you could ask, except for – more?
